Employer Advisory Council

The Employer Advisory Council at Florida Gulf Coast University provides a forum for employers and Career Development Services staff to engage in relevant discussions regarding career trends, opportunities, and over-arching best practices. Information gathered from these discussions will contribute to the quality and impact of services and programs provided by CDS for FGCU students. By helping improve CDS services—and FGCU as a result—the Employer Advisory Council works to develop a stronger future workforce.

The Employer Advisory Council will include representatives from a wide variety of industries which employ college graduates in the Southwest Florida region and beyond. The council will be co-chaired by the Director and Assistant Director of CDS and will be composed of 10-15 employer representatives from a variety of career fields including management, consulting, government, not-for-profit, creative areas, and STEM

Membership on the council is by invitation only and is completely voluntary. Upon accepting a council position, members agree to serve a two-year term which may be renewed up to twice (total of 6 years) at the discretion of the co-chairs. Any advisory council member may resign at any time with written notice to the co-chairs. If a member misses both meetings in a given academic year, they can be removed from the council at the discretion of the co-chairs.

The council will meet twice per academic year, once during the fall semester and once during the spring semester. Meetings will be held in-person on the FGCU campus or through a virtual video conferencing platform. Electronic meetings/correspondence will be held when necessary to address issues that arise in-between meetings.
