Position Overview:
We are seeking a motivated Transportation Engineering student to join our team on a flexible part-time basis. The ideal candidate will assist in conducting traffic analyses and preparing Traffic Impact Statements (TIS) for development projects and transportation studies. This role offers hands-on experience in traffic engineering and exposure to real-world transportation planning processes.
Your Responsibilities:
- Collect and analyze traffic data, including volumes, turning movements, and travel patterns.
- Perform capacity analysis using industry-standard software (e.g., Synchro, HCS, VISSIM).
- Assist in preparing Traffic Impact Statements and related technical reports.
- Support the development of trip generation estimates and intersection analysis.
- Review and interpret transportation planning documents and local agency requirements.
- Collaborate with senior engineers to ensure compliance with applicable standards and guidelines (e.g., HCM, MUTCD, local ordinances).
Job Requirements:
- Currently enrolled in a BS or MS program specializing in Civil or Transportation Engineering.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and technical writing skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
- Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
- Sponsorship is not available for this position now or in the future.
- Available to work part-time hours in spring semester around college classes at the Fort Myers office and 40-hour work week for summer semester.
