Timeline: January – April, 2026
Availability: 10-20 hours per week
Schedule: Tuesday – Saturday, flexible hours between 7:00am-2:00pm
Responsibilities: This position will be responsible for aiding the Education Staff at Rookery Bay National Estuarine Research Reserve (RBNERR) by supporting a variety of on- and off-site educational programs delivered to audiences of all ages.
Primary duties include conducting field experiences for school students. Additional opportunities to conduct outreach, docent in Environmental Learning Center, and experience field work with other Reserve departments will enhance the understanding of the variety of work that takes place within Reserve boundaries.
Requirements:
• must have reliable transportation and report to the RBNERR campus as scheduled
• successfully complete assigned tasks within a reasonable time frame
• be prepared for work indoors, outside, and on boats
• give a presentation at the end of the internship
Must be eligible to enroll in an approved FGCU internship course to receive academic credit during your experience.
Preferred Skills: ability to follow directions, manage time appropriately, communicate effectively and appropriately to a variety of age groups, and work independently and as part of a team.
