Police Major, Lucas County Sheriff’s Office

My name is Tricia White and I am a Major in the Administrative Services division for Lucas County Sheriff's Office. So what that entails is I oversee our training section, our public social media section. I'm the Public Information Officer. I oversee our finance section, our personnel section, our sex offenders record section, CCW, Honor Guard, maintenance and Support Services, and Countywide Communications. So I oversee everything except the corrections division and the law enforcement division. The Lucas County Sheriff's Office is a paramilitary organization, so there's a structure to our organization. My role is basically directly underneath the sheriff. So there's a rank structure. There's a line staff personnel. There are sergeants, there are lieutenants, there are captains, then there's a major. So I oversee sections. I'm not necessarily the person directly responsible for the section, but those section heads report directly to me. Public Information is a big one. Social media in this day and age is a big responsibility. Obviously right now also, recruitment and training are big issues in law enforcement. So those are some of the bigger things that I oversee. It takes a lot of coordination. We coordinate with members of the community as well as with our staff internally to make sure that we're getting out correct information to the public. We try to do it as timely as we possibly can, to be as efficient as we possibly can. I work eight to four. However, due to the nature of this job and my position, I'm on call most of the time. So I'll take calls after hours. That's not uncommon. Travel. I've traveled for training purposes, but for the most part, my assignment is within Lucas County.
